An Excellent Alternative to Glasses
Contact lenses can provide you with a new aesthetic when you’re looking to switch up your look from your glasses.
Contact lenses can help correct refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia. With the evolution of contact lens technology, specialized options support even more eye conditions like dry eye disease and keratoconus.

Contact Lenses & You
Our comprehensive contact lens exam can determine your unique prescription. During your exam, we will take eye measurements to determine their shape, and the prescription needed to correct vision errors. Then, our patients wear the lenses to determine if they are comfortable and if their vision is clear.
Everyone’s eyes and vision differ, so a contact lens exam and fitting are essential to prescribing the ideal fit. There are various contact lens options available based on your specific needs—we can determine the lenses best suited for your eyes.
At Elite Vision Therapy Centre, the patient experience is our priority, and we strive to provide our patients with excellent specialized contact lens options.
What to Expect During Your Contact Lens Exam
Before the fitting process begins, we perform a comprehensive eye exam to confirm your prescription and evaluate your ocular health.
Our comprehensive contact lens exam can determine your unique prescription. During your exam, we’ll try various lenses to note your eye’s response and select a good fit for your visual needs.
Your eye doctor will check your visual acuity, similar to comprehensive eye exams, to determine how well you see letters and symbols from a distance. You will also be asked questions about your lifestyle and preferences to add to your contact lens profile.
Types of Contact Lenses
Contact lenses fall under 2 main categories, soft contact lenses, and rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses.
Soft contact lenses are made of soft, flexible plastics and allow oxygen to pass through to the cornea. These lenses can be easier to adjust to and more comfortable than RGP lenses. Newer materials used for soft lenses include silicone-hydrogels to provide even more oxygen to your eyes.
RGP lenses are more durable than soft contact lenses. These lenses are also resistant to deposit buildup and tend to last longer than soft contact lenses. RGP lenses can take more time to adjust to, and may take up to a few weeks for your eyes to fully adjust to compared to a few days for soft contacts.
Included in these categories are specialized contact lenses that combat different vision issues.
Aspheric Lenses
Aspheric contact lenses are designed to control the average spherical aberration in the lens and human eye.
Spherical aberration is the inability of a lens to focus light on a common point. Aspheric lenses can focus light and offer clearer, sharper vision.
Toric Lenses
At Elite Vision Therapy, we offer toric lenses to help correct astigmatism. Toric lenses are available in soft and RGP lenses.
Toric contact lenses correct the variation in refraction that astigmatism causes and are weighted so that they won’t rotate—this ensures proper orientation on your eye for stable, clear vision throughout the day.
Multifocal Lenses
We offer multifocal contact lenses for patients with presbyopia, a condition that makes it difficult to focus on objects at near distances.
Multifocal contact lenses can also help alleviate eye strain for children with myopia and help manage or control the rate of myopia progression.
The Contact Lens Fitting Process
Following the measurement of your cornea, the corneal health is evaluated using a biomicroscope to provide a magnified view. This view can help your eye doctor determine measurements to ensure your contact lenses fit comfortably.
We will then determine the best lens options for you based on your unique vision situation and if you’re dealing with any specific issues.
Following approval for contact lenses, our team will fit you with trial contact lenses to evaluate how well your eyes are adjusting and to ensure the final fit is comfortable and safe.
During the fitting process, follow-up appointments will be scheduled with your eye doctor to determine how your eyes are adjusting to your new contact lenses.
